Hey there! My name is Jake Dahn, and I’m happy to announce that Canarykit is officially open for business!
I’ve been building websites for more than a decade. I’ve worked on huge (thousands of requests per second) infrastructure projects, small high-impact internal tools to improve the day-to-day experience of employees at growing companies, and I’ve built public-facing marketing websites that define the look and feel of a company to its prospective customers.
One thing I’ve always found strange while working at a medium to large sized tech startups is how neglected marketing sites tend to be. Marketing sites are a high-value business asset — defining everything about how a customer sees and interacts with your brand — and branding matters!
However, in my experience, folks outside of the marketing team rarely care about the public facing website. They’re off focusing on solving the “interesting” problems, and building complex products behind the scenes to power the ultimate vision and direction of the business. All the while, low-hanging fruit shines through on the public website.
Every marketing site I have worked on has been due to a lack of resources), or the need to make a final push to get things out the door for some event; without having the proper staff to do it properly. Maintenance is always an afterthought.
Sometimes this neglect exposes itself; your website goes down, your SSL certificate expires when you weren’t paying attention, or your website doesn’t even load in firefox.
That’s why I’m making Canarykit.
My mission with Canarykit is to help you build and maintain your website with simple user-centric tools and services.
Yeah you, the folks who wear all the hats at a startup, or the folks who “chip in” on the marketing site as a part-time responsibility. You might not even be a developer. You certainly don’t have tons of spare cycles to worry about the marketing site all the time. You just need to keep tabs on it and get a notification when things go wrong or something simple needs some love.
So today I’m announcing Canarykit’s first product: Uptime Monitoring. With just a few clicks you can setup 24/7 Uptime Monitoring. When your website goes down, you’ll be the first to know; so you can address the core problem before it impacts your customers or your bottom line.
This first product is core to Canarykit’s mission, but it is just the beginning! There is still much to come, and I hope you’ll join me for the ride. You can sign up today for a free 14-day free trial, no credit card required.
Thank you for reading, and welcome to Canarykit!
